{{{ This includes a facsimile cassette tape, a book by Public Collectors, & a ✭✭ annual membership for ESS }}}
The Creative Audio Archive at ESS is happy to announce the second in a series of facsimile collection items, made in collaboration with one of our 2020 Archive Artists in Residence, Marc Fischer of Public Collectors.
Marc selected a recording from the Malachi Ritscher Collection of The Ex & Tom Cora performing live at the Lounge Ax in 1994 - a show he experienced first hand as an audience member - and collected writings and ephemera to create a new handmade publication that contextualizes the concert, both historically and personally.
Included are the original review of the concert written by Bill Meyer for the Chicago Reader, photos from the Reader archive at the Harold Washington Library, an email & photobooth picture of the band from the band's singer (at the time) G. W. Sok, and more.
ESS has produced a facsimile of the original cassette, which are paired with Marc's publication in an edition of 100, and are available as a gift to new and recurring members of ESS.
